Randall A. Stenoien MD, CEO of Houston Medical Imaging receives the Estrella De Panama Cancer Award.
The 8th annual International Conference of Medicine in Santiago de Veraguas, Panama (view poster) was dedicated to Dr. Randall Stenoien for eight years of participation and dedication to the well-being of the citizens Veraguas, the central province of Panama. In addition to receiving commendations from the University of Panama, Ministry of Health, ANCEF, and the local physicians of Veraguas, Dr. Stenoien was presented the key to the city by the mayor of Santiago.
Dr. Stenoien, with the assistance of Fundacion Adan Rios, Cable and Wireless Panama and HMI is involved in an ongoing teleradiology project for Hospital Chicho Fabrega. He and the physicians of Houston Medical Imaging have interpreted in excess of 3000 CT exams. Dr. Stenoien also addressed the conference over recent advances in the detection of breast cancer. The conference featured such noted speakers as Dr. Elizabeth Bonefas (Breast surgery), Dr. Ruben Quiroz (Hepatology), former astronaut Dr. David Hilmers (Pediatrics and Critical Care), Dr. Angela Hilmers, Dr. Michael Frumovitz (Gyn Oncology), Dr. Coburn Allen (Infectious Disease and Pediatrics) and Dr. Patz Etcheverry (Nutrition).
The conference was attended by over 300 health care providers and broadcasted live over the Internet courtesy of Cable and Wireless Telecomm. The conference is organized by Dr. Adan Rios and Dr. Domenico Melillo and sponsored by The Adan A. Rios Foundation with the collaboration of The Cable and Wireless Foundation, The National Association Against Cancer, Veraguas Chapter and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Panama as well as other public and private organizations.
